Should Projects Always Start in SAP? |

It is preferable, for several reasons. (1) As an ERP system, SAP has many more configuration and setup items than any 'best-of-breed' project management system (e.g., control key, plant, network type, company code, project profile). Starting in SAP would require to define complex logic that considers all possible entries for such mandatory fields.
(2) The SAP project management module is in itself fully integrated with key business processes and modules like controlling, financial accounting, purchasing, human resources, production planning, MRP, etc. This means that the enterprise level always should be controlled by SAP.
